Better than Mealime
Im cheering these folks on! … The app’s functionality is great! … super duper easy importing of external recipes (seriously, surprisingly easy) … SUPER RESPONSIVE TEAM. Im not kidding, they actually emailed me back with a fix to my issue. … This is exactly what I was looking for when Mealime closed. Thank you and keep going!
Fantastic Mealime Replacement
I downloaded this app because Mealime is shutting down and so far it has been fantastic. I really like a lot of the features that it has that others do not especially how easy it is to add ingredients to your shopping list and have them auto populate for future meal planning.
10/10 Meal Planning app, the shared grocery lists, recipes, U/I are all amazing so far
fantastic alternative to mealime!

We are two software engineers, but more importantly, we are parents.
For years, we relied on Mealime to survive weeknight dinners. But as our family grew, we realized we needed more. We didn't just need a digital recipe book—we needed a tool that actively adapted to our crazy schedules and minimized our cleanup.
When we couldn't find it, we decided to build it. And when we heard Mealime was shutting down, we went into overdrive to get WeeknightBite ready for you.
We don't have corporate overlords, and we aren't a massive grocery conglomerate. We are just two parents building the tool we needed for our own home, and we are so excited to share it with yours.
Here's to dinner, decided.
Get dinner decided, one grocery list built for you, and fewer dishes on real weeknights.
Lock in 50% off the annual plan: $29.99 for your first year instead of $59.99 (US App Store), on iPhone, iPad and Android.
Everything former Mealime cooks need to know about the sunset date, recipe exports, and how WeeknightBite carries the torch.
Yes, officially. Mealime announced on its website (mealime.com/closing) that the standalone Mealime app is shutting down on October 21, 2026 following its acquisition by Albertsons Companies. After October 21st, the standalone app and its dedicated servers will be discontinued.
Yes. Once Mealime's servers shut down on October 21, user accounts, custom meal history, and saved favorites will no longer be accessible through the app. If you’ve spent years building your recipe rotation, you should back them up before the shutdown date.
The Mealime Lifeboat is a completely free rescue tool built by WeeknightBite. Simply copy the share link of your favorite recipes from Mealime (or from mealime.com/recipes/...) and paste them into the box on this page with your email. Once they're ready, we email you how to claim them in the WeeknightBite app. Rescued recipes go only into your own WeeknightBite account and are not shared with other users.
WeeknightBite was created by long-time Mealime power users who refuse to let stress-free weeknight dinner planning die. We designed it as a true spiritual successor: preserving the automatic consolidated grocery lists and minimal cleanup that made Mealime special, built natively for iPhone and Android. It isn't a grocery chain's app, there are no ads, even on the free tier, and no bloat: just a focus on lightening the mental load of dinnertime.
To welcome former Mealime cooks, we are granting an automatic 50% discount on the first year of the annual plan to anyone who rescues their recipes or leaves their email on this page: $29.99 for your first year instead of $59.99 (US App Store). Follow the email we send you, and the app applies your discount; you can still apply it later from Settings.
Cookroom is a new meal planner from Mealime’s original founders, Jeffrey and Maria Bunn. As of October 20, 2026, its website (cookroom.app) is a waitlist: it says “launching soon” and gives no date, price or platforms, and there is no app to download yet. Mealime closes October 21. If you want to keep cooking your Mealime recipes now, you can paste their share links into WeeknightBite today,, and your household can share the plan and the grocery list for free. Sign up for Cookroom too if you like; we will update this answer when it launches.
